MINERAL LOOP
From July 6, 2021 to September 30, 2026
The Mineral LOOP project aims to design, develop, install, and operate a pilot plant on a Carmeuse site for the transformation of mineral waste/by-products with a capacity of 10,000 tonnes per year, using hydraulic setting and carbonation reactions at ambient pressure and temperature. This pilot will be powered by industrial CO₂ from lime kilns.
About
In the perspective of developing a circular economy applied to mineral waste streams, the Mineral LOOP project aims to design, develop, install, and operate a pilot industrial unit for transforming mineral waste into secondary products that can be reused in various application sectors.
The processes implemented will be based, among other things, on the principle of carbonation, which involves capturing and fixing CO₂ in alkaline mineral materials that are then stabilized and reconditioned.
This GreenWin-labeled project is being carried out in collaboration with Carmeuse, Lessinesindustries, Revatech, Tradecowall, ULiège – PEPs et GeMMe, Centre Terre et Pierre.
