Definitions of filters for Sustainable water - Professions

  • Territory Development

Interventions and developments in the territory modifying water flows for specific anthropogenic uses or aimed at restoring the natural water cycle (examples: infrastructure for river navigation, fight against flooding, measures promoting water infiltration, interventions on buildings, etc.).

  • Drilling and catchments

Concerns all types of water intakes in the natural environment, groundwater or surface water, including for geothermal energy.

  • Aquatic leisure

Concerns aquatic leisure activities and recreational infrastructures requiring water, including leisure activities in a natural environment (examples: swimming pool, watering of sports fields, fishing, etc.).

  • Measurements and analyses for water

Concerns observations, measurements and analyses in the field or in the laboratory, making it possible to follow the quantitative and qualitative parameters of the water resource and to monitor the condition and proper functioning of infrastructures.

  • Optimization of water use

Improvement of water use and infrastructure management with the aim of reducing water consumption and ultimately withdrawals from natural resources (examples: fight against leaks, reuse, water-saving devices, advice to consumers, etc.).

  • Natural resources

Concerns activities related to the quantitative and qualitative aspects of natural water resources, including ecosystem approaches, particularly with a view to preserving this resource.

  • Water treatment

Concerns all types of water treatment, whatever the source and the intended use, including the management of odours (examples: drinking water treatment, purification, filtration of rainwater, preparation of process water, …).

  • Water transportation and storage

Transport and storage of water and sludge (examples: piping, pumping, tanks, water tower, storm basin, dam, etc.).

  • Water recovery

Recovery of materials and energy from water or treatment sludge (examples: recovery with a view to revalorizing nitrogen, metals, polymers, etc.; riot thermal energy, hydroelectricity, conversion of sludge into combustible, …).
